  1. I think that outsourcing in general is one of the contributors to the bad economy.
  2. In this economy there are a multitude of things managers need to be aware of, the most paramount of which are cutting costs without sacrificing quality or functionality. Payroll falls directly into this category, to use in-house resources for such a specialized function the overhead is too high to warrant the utility of their services. As such services like ADP and Ceridian are great sources of cost reductions; they charge a nominal fee per transaction and are great at what they do. Hope this helps. -SC
  3. well the outsourcing factor is different for different people and in different facets of life... you can track it back from the history of outsourcing. however the real outsourcing scenario can be estimated from the site http://pragmaticoutsourcing.com/
  4. It all depends on your situation. For many companies outsourcing payroll can cut costs by a lot. If a company has paid positions just for handling payroll needs, it can often be outsorced for a fraction of the cost. If the owner does the payroll themselves, this can hamper their productivity and could be done by a payroll company for a nominal fee. Simplicity is key. Look for hidden fees for doing any tax reporting or payments or if they just give you numbers and have you do it. Payroll companies can do in minuted what would take the average business owner hours or even days. They also know the laws so you don't get yourself in trouble. Check out www.payrollexpress.com
