Why do people abandon vehicles along the highway?

It just seems odd that every time I drive a major highway, there are always vehicles that don't look damaged, abandoned along the side. There is usually a bright red/orange sticker on them which I would assume is a "move it or lose it" ticket. Anyone know what these cars are there?

Public Comments

  1. Because they quit running, Einstein. Or perhaps they are hot --- you know, stolen and ditched? Alot of people barely have the means to buy a car at all. Once it quits, there is no point, in their minds, to spend money they probably don't have, recovering it.
  2. broken down. No tools no insurance coverage for towing no way to get it right now. Poor maintenance no spare tire no jack flat spare Millions of reasons.
  3. Many times, the cost of towing the vehicle is more than that person can afford. You never see really nice vehicles abandoned because those people can afford the tow charge.
  4. probably because people can't afford to pay for towing away their vehicles.
