How long is a payroll check good for?

I just found a payroll check from a job I had a while back. I haven't cashed it as I forgot I had it. The date on it is 1/25/08. There is no time limit printed on the check. Like cash within a certain amount of time. Could I still cash it?

  1. If there isn't a cash by date on the check, it usually is good for one year from date of issue. Some companies require you to cash the check with in thirty days. A friend stock piled her work checks for two years and found out when she went to the bank only half were good. I suggest you contact the company you received it from and check with them.
